Alvis Juniors run a saturday morning academy. The academy is popular with children and serves the local community in and around Finham, Stivichall, Earlsdon and Cheylesmore. Its purpose is to provide a well-organised safe and friendly environment where young children can play football for fun. We believe children's coaching should be about ensuring everyone has the chance to play, by providing fun and enoyable child-centred football activities in a safe environment. Our academy teaches boys and girls aged 5 -8 football skills, good sportsmanship, team spirit and fair play. So what's in it for the children? Basic ball control, shooting, passing and defending skills Improve general fitness through fun exercise Increase self-esteem and confidence Increase their circle of friends
Every session ends with one layer being presented with a 'Player of the Week' medal to recognise extra special effort.
The academy runs every Saturday at the Alvis Sports Ground from 10.00am to 11.30am. the sessions are run by FA qualified coaches who have the appropriate CRB checks. It is a 'pay as you play' scheme and each session is £2.50. Children need to wear shin pads, trainers or football boots and clothing suitable for the weather (including sun-protection in the summer). A drink is included but it is recommended that they bring an additional drink to keep hydrated. On completion of the academy children will have the chance to join an established team.
If your child wants to start playing football with others the academy is a great place to start. The aim of our academy is to encourage children to enjoy playing football. It offers the opportunity for young children to get involved in football, regardless of ability. Attendance at the academy gives your child the opportunity to progress on to playing for the Alvis Junior football teams, which range from the under 8s to the under 16s All the Alvis coaches are CRB checked.
